Lawrence O’Donnell Swipes at Laura Ingraham: Her Apology Has ‘No Credibility as a Real Apology’

“Fox News pushed the panic button today.”

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell took a few swipes at time-slot competitor Laura Ingraham tonight over the pressure being put on her advertisers.

O’Donnell recapped the controversy over Ingraham’s mockery of Parkland student David Hogg, followed by the pressure on her advertisers and her subsequent apology today (though advertisers have announced they’re cutting their ties in the hours since).

He brought up the similar pressure campaign against Bill O’Reilly‘s advertisers before his departure from Fox News and said, “It was clear that anyone could be driven out of Fox News if enough advertisers turn on them.”

O’Donnell continued:

“If David Hogg can continue to drive advertisers away from Laura Ingraham’s show, then she will not survive. The timing of Laura Ingraham’s apology, the wording of Laura Ingraham’s apology, has no credibility as a real apology. And so she might have to try apologizing again, and next time I would suggest––in the spirit of Holy Week, as she would put it––as an act of contrition, she could release her college rejection letters.”

Before going to break, O’Donnell mentioned the “political power” of Hogg and other students, saying they “just taught Fox News another painful lesson.”
