Andrew McCabe’s Wife Slams Trump’s ‘False and Utterly Absurd’ Lies Against Their Family

The wife of former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe has broken her silence on the “destructive lies” President Trump has spread about her as the basis for his claims about the bureau’s corruption.

In the months before McCabe was fired, Trump and his team slammed him over the reported connection between Jill McCabe and Hillary Clinton ally, Terry McAuliffe. Mrs. McCabe wrote a piece for Washington Post where she talked about how she got involved in the 2014 Virginia state senate election, and how she and her husband took every necessary precaution to avoid intertwining their work.

McCabe wrote that her husband consulted ethics experts at the FBI during the campaign, and that Clinton never came up for her during the Medicaid expansion campaign. McCabe also said that the funding she received from Democrats at the time was “on par with what other candidates” received, and her husband only joined the Clinton email investigation after the campaign was over.

For the most part, McCabe continued to lament that her endeavors to help people as a pediatrician have been used to attack her family’s reputation and integrity.

“I have spent countless hours trying to understand how the president and so many others can share such destructive lies about me. Ultimately I believe it somehow never occurred to them that I could be a serious, independent-minded physician who wanted to run for office for legitimate reasons. They rapidly jumped to the conclusion that I must be corrupt, as part of what I believe to be an effort to vilify us to suit their needs…Now that I can speak on my own behalf, I want people to know that the whole story that everything is based on is just false and utterly absurd.”
