Rob Reiner Battles Anthony Scaramucci Over Trump’s Lies: He Does It All the Time!

On Friday, director Rob Reiner and former Trump communication director Anthony Scaramucci sat down together with Ari Melber to talk Trump.

The segment did not disappoint.

Straight off the bat, Reiner asked Scaramucci: “I want to ask you, because you know Donald Trump. I met him one time. I don’t know him that well. You know him better than I do. Why do you think that he lies all the time? Why is that? Why does he lie like every minute?”

Scaramucci then suggested Trump was more of an embellisher than a liar.

“He is an embellisher of stories,” Scaramucci opined. “He will tell a big tale and a big story, and so now the media is conflating that with absolute lying.”

Scaramucci then tried to claim that Trump was just doing the same thing they do in Hollywood.

“So when the media says he said 3,001 lies, we look at it, the guys in the campaign and people I’m close to, we see it as the macro storyteller that he is,” Trump’s communication director for less than two weeks said. “But in Hollywood, if you got a book that is a non-fiction book and you’re going to write the story into a screenplay, some of it gets conflated.”

Reiner wasn’t buying it.

“That’s Hollywood… We’re making up stories,” Reiner shot back.
