President Donald Trump declared on Twitter this afternoon that the new North American trade deal signed today is getting “great reviews.”
Great reviews on the USMCA – sooo much better than NAFTA!

Fox News’ Shepard Smith read the president’s tweet aloud on air Friday before issuing a correction: “Actually, the NAFTA framework is still exactly largely intact, with some changes for cars and labor and the environment. And this deal, this new deal, is not a deal yet, because it still has to overcome some major obstacles before it will ever be able to achieve much of anything.”
Smith noted that the deal still has to be ratified by all three governments, which he added is a problem given how the Democrats will control the House in January.
