President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell held a joint press conference this afternoon and wanted to make it absolutely clear that they’re getting along now.
Trump called McConnell a “friend of mine for a long time” and said they’re “closer than ever before.” He touted the work they’re doing on tax reform.

McConnell, meanwhile, said they talk “frequently” on the weekends and agreed that they’ve been friendly for a while. He did praise Trump for his appointment of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
You may remember in late August when a report broke about mutual frustration between the two leaders, which said “angry phone calls and private badmouthing have devolved into open conflict.” Both McConnell and the White House put out statements afterwards pushing back.
