Tucker Fires Back at Bill Kristol: ‘Former Intellectual Who Now Exists Primarily on Twitter’

Tucker Carlson fired back at Bill Kristol on his program Thursday night, after the former conservative commentator said the views expressed on his Fox News show are “ethno-nationalism of some kind,” if not “close now to racism.”

Carlson closed out his show by noting that “a number of figures on the left have denounced this show as racist.”

“The latest person to attack our show as immoral is former Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol,” Carlson said, describing the commentator as a “former intellectual who know exists primarily on Twitter.”

Kristol offered some steely criticism of Carlson — who once worked under Kristol at the Weekly Standardin an interview on CNBC, describing his show as “close now to racism.”

“A combination of dumbing down, as you said earlier, and stirring people’s emotions in a very unhealthy way,” Kristol told CNBC’s John Harwood.

Carlson responded in a statement, claiming his former boss was “too afraid to come” on his show.

On his Fox News show Thursday night, Carlson said he considered a number of responses to Kristol, before settling on ignoring the jab, because “Kristol discredited himself years ago, that’s why he no longer has a full-time job.”

Carlson continued that the best response is to “restate what we actually believe about immigration,” before launching into an O’Reilly-esque explainer about his immigration policy preferences.

After wrapping up, Carlson passed to Sean Hannity, who offered some words of support:

“By the way, Bill Kristol’s not worth a second of your time,” he said.
