Fergie’s rendition of the national anthem yesterday went over, umm, not so great, and she responded this afternoon.
The performance really didn’t go over well online, and clips of people’s reactions went viral.
Well, Fergie has now responded in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter:
“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” says the 42-year-old singer. “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
The rendition made so many people uncomfortable that even Roseanne (yes, Roseanne) was dunking on it:
Who saw Fergie's national anthem performance at the NBA All Star Game? I think mine was better lowkey
