Hannity’s CPAC Panel Derails After Crowd Roasts Geraldo Rivera For Mentioning Gun Reform

Shortly after Fox News’ Sean Hannity decried the “political theater” of CNN’s town hall event that featured Parkland shooting survivors confronting Florida lawmakers, the Broward County sheriff and NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch, the conservative commentator moderated a panel on guns that, yep, descended into political theater.

Broadcasting live from CPAC and in front of an audience, Hannity convened a panel that included Loesch, fellow NRATV host Dan Bongino, Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich and Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera. Considering the makeup of the panel, with Rivera being the only one that has recently expressed public approval for gun reform, it had all the makings for Rivera pile-on.

After Rivera noted that he had recently had dinner with President Donald Trump and that the president was deeply affected by the shooting, he pointed out that Trump is now expressing support for age restrictions for buying AR-15s and other assault-style rifles.

“We need to do something,” Rivera said, as the crowd began loudly booing him. “It won’t solve the problem. But the NRA, if it doesn’t want to be on the of history will adopt this modest reform.”

As the audience continued jeering him, Rivera shot back, yelling at them and asking several times if they “want to do nothing.”

“Geraldo, do you want a solution or do you want to scream?” Loesch shouted at Rivera.

With the audience cheering on Loesch as she made the case that a person under 21 should be able to purchase an AR-15, she told Rivera that he didn’t “understand ballistics” since we was claiming an AR-15 was more deadly than a pistol.

“30 assignments in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I don’t understand ballistics?” Rivera retorted.

“Do you want me to take shooting?” Loesch responded.

We’d also see Pavlich lecture Rivera about infringing on the rights of citizens while Bongino said that criminals don’t care about laws to explain why there was a need for more guns.

“This was a real debate tonight,” Hannity declared at the end of it all. “So let’s give it up for everybody here.”
