On Thursday, CNN’s Jake Tapper started off his show by hitting on President Donald Trump‘s pardon of conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza and subsequent tease to reporters that more pardons may be coming, including pardons to former Apprentice alums Martha Stewart and Rod Blagojevich.
“Martha Stewart, Blagojevich, if other Celebrity Apprentice contestants are in need of a pardon, now is a good time to raise your hand,” Tapper said at the start of the show.
He then quipped: “President Trump seemingly passing out pardons to heroes of the far-right almost as eagerly as Oprah once gifted Pontiacs to suburban moms.”
Tapper then noted a stunning similarity among those pardoned by Trump.
“They are all individuals prosecuted by people who the president deems to be his opponents, They are individuals who face charges that members of the Trump Team could face themselves,” Tapper noted, before detailing the ties. “Blagojevich and Stewart they have both appeared on ‘The Apprentice’ or spin-offs, but they have more than that in common, both of their convictions have ties to former James Comey.”
