Roseanne Barr Says She ‘Begged’ ABC to ‘Let Me Apologize’ and Not Cancel Show

Roseanne Barr has decided to stay on Twitter after all. She is also using the platform to tell her side of the story after her sitcom was shuttered in wake of the controversy over her racist remarks.

After making the racist comments on Twitter that got her show axed, Barr vowed to leave Twitter.

Yet, just hours later she was tweeting again and on Thursday she announced she planned to stay for good.

“So, so, I’m staying on twitter to try and help build a movement of grassroots ppl who wish 2 solve the problems of this neighborhood, The USA,” Barr wrote.

Then, she claimed she begged for her show to be spared.

“I begged Ben Sherwood at ABC 2 let me apologize & make amends,” she wrote. “I begged them not to cancel the show. I told them I was willing to do anything & asked 4 help in making things right. I’d worked doing publicity4 them 4free for weeks, traveling, thru bronchitis. I begged4 ppls jobs.”

She continued on: “He said: what were you thinking when you did this? I said: I thought she was white, she looks like my family! He scoffed & said: ‘what u have done is egregious, and unforgivable.’ I begged 4 my crews jobs. Will I ever recover from this pain? omg.”

Barr then continued on by insisting she was hurting for the young star who played her African-American grandchild, Jayden Rey.

“I think I’ll b better tomorrow,” Barr continued on. “The saddest part of all is 4 Jayden Rey on the show whom I grew2 love so much & am so ashamed of myself that she would ever think I do not love her bc she is African American. It’s the most gawd awful painful thing. I can’t let myself cave in tho.”

Barr then said she was fear-praying before ending with one last apology and prayers for healing for “our divided nation.”
