“It feels like we are on an outrage superhighway,” said Greg Gutfeld on The Five Thursday.
If indeed we are on an outrage superhighway, then The Five might well be driving the pace car. Samantha Bee‘s widely condemned comment Wednesday night — in which she called Ivanka Trump a ‘feckless c*nt’ — was all but guaranteed to lead off Thursday’s edition of The Five. And indeed, it did.
Gutfeld, for his part, was satisfied with the TBS star’s apology. But others on the panel disagreed
“This was not a slip up,” said Geraldo Rivera — filling in for Juan Williams. “It was a assault on President [Donald] Trump.”
Rivera added, “I think that this was absolutely pre-meditated.”
Much of the discussion centered on ABC cancellation of Roseanne earlier this week, following Roseanne Barr‘s racist tweets. Many conservatives believe there to be a double standard as a result. Dana Perino agreed with this line of thinking.
“There were quick decisive circumstances for Roseanne, and it doesn’t look so much like that will be the case for Samantha Bee,” Perino said.
