Trump’s Russia Tweetstorm Reportedly Inspired By News Mueller Wants to Ask About Obstruction

Fresh developments in Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation prompted President Donald Trump‘s Wednesday morning Twitter meltdown, according to a new report in ABC News.

Per ABC News, Mueller’s office informed informed Trump’s team that they want to ask the president about obstruction of justice, and “will limit the scope of questioning and would like to ask questions both orally and written for the President to respond to.”

That news reportedly inspired Trump’s frantic Wednesday morning tweetstorm, which began by quoting an Alan Dershowitz appearance on Hannity in which the lawyer slammed the Mueller probe.

Trump didn’t stop there. He followed that up with a tweet calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to stop the Mueller probe (the White House later said this was an “opinion”, not a command); whined that the U.S. government didn’t tell him about the investigation into Paul Manafort when he tapped him to run his campaign; compared the treatment of Manafort to that of “Alfonse Capone, legendary mob boss”; and accused Hillary Clinton of committing the real collusion.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported that the Mueller and Trump teams are in a standoff about the president sitting down with investigators, after the special counsel offered to limit the questions it would ask Trump.
