Vermont Democrats have canceled events with Michael Avenatti in wake of the Stormy Daniels lawyer’s arrest.
In a tweet sent out after the news broke, Vermont Democrats spokesperson R. Christopher Di Mezzo said that the event had been canceled “due to allegations of domestic violence.”
The tweeted out statement adds: “The Vermont Democratic Party has canceled Mr. Avenatti’s forthcoming scheduled appearances in Vermont, and will be refunding all ticket sales.”

In a statement to the Burlington Free Press, Di Mezzo also made it clear that while they have not heard from Avenatti or his representatives, his arrest made the event — billed as a cocktail and conversation event — a no-go.
“We have not heard from his people, but while there is some kind of arrest and investigation to ensue, we’re not going to step into that arena with him,” Di Mezzo said.
Avenatti, who had been mulling a 2020 run, said after his arrest that he plans to fight the charges.
“I have never struck a woman,” Avenatti told reporters after his release. “I never will strike a woman. I have been an advocate for women’s rights my entire career and I’m going to continue to be an advocate. I am not going to be intimidated from stopping what I am doing.”
