Rep. Louie Gohmert doesn’t think every Trump administration minor decision deserves an investigative colonoscopy but when it comes to Michael Cohen, he surely needed one.
Gohmert was speaking Friday night on Fox News about how Democrats are beginning to ramp up staff in preparation for investigations of the president once they take over the House in January.
“The Democrats once were big on privacy rights. And when they saw how important it was for Google and some of these Internet providers to support the Democrats, they don’t want to do anything to make them mad and it’s amazing how they backed off some of the things they used to believe in, being anti-Orwellian. They are not anymore. But they are going to do the investigations,” Gohmert said.
He continued on: “They are out there hiring like crazy, lawyers, they are coming in and helping with subpoenas…It’s gonna happen… It is healthy to have oversight investigations and I think Republicans didn’t do enough of them. But you don’t need a colonoscopy after every minor decision that the administration made and I think that’s where they are headed.”
Fox News’ Ed Henry, changing topics a bit, then noted Cohen has been under the microscope.
“He needed a colonoscopy!” Gohmert interjected.
“Well, we’ll leave that for another program,” Henry replied, before moving on.
