On Sunday night, President Donald Trump tried to justify his border wall because Barack and Michelle Obama have a privacy wall around their Washington DC home.
Seriously.
“President and Mrs. Obama built/has a ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound,” Trump opined. “I agree, totally necessary for their safety and security. The U.S. needs the same thing, slightly larger version!”

Twitter had a field day.
Fred Guttenberg, who lost his daughter to the Parkland massacre and has dedicated his life to gun safety wrote this:
You f–ng lunatic. Are you seriously trying to put our former President at risk? https://t.co/Y6Yr2o6Fdr

NBC National Political Reporter Mike Memoli noted the Secret Service probably won’t take to kindly to Trump drawing attention to the Obamas home.
1. Drawing attention to their home isn't something USSS will love
2. The president's daughter and son-in-law live very close by.
3. Michelle Obama wrote in her book that Trump had put "my family's safety at risk. And for this I'd never forgive him." https://t.co/nTwHBmvDcC— Mike Memoli (@mikememoli) December 30, 2018
Washington Post’s Lois Romano noted that Trump’s claim was a “flat out lie.”
This is a flat out lie. There is no 10 foot wall. It is neither a mansion nor a compound. It is a house in NW DC that very close to other houses and is much smaller than Mar-a-largo. https://t.co/KkngjQ4FiO

She then added this:
Is this an awkward time to mentioned that @BarackObama is the most admired man in the country for the 11th year in a row? (per gallup) https://t.co/KkngjQ4FiO

Others also had some thoughts, a lot of thoughts.
FYI Mr "President*", but the Obamas arent worried about safety and security. (They know the @SecretService protects them.)
They are ghastly afraid you will try to come over for dinner.
I'd #Resist that too. https://t.co/2kY1t79LvK

There are few thing more frustrating to economists than repeatedly explaining to people how households differ, a lot, from countries, and that this metaphor is absurd. https://t.co/D80z2pzcuW

You have to be next level stupid to think home security and homeland security are basically the same thing. https://t.co/MisGAyjKbD

FLOTUS @MichelleObama: "What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family's safety at risk. And for this I'd never forgive him."
He'll never get over the fixation. He'll never be them. https://t.co/La6B8WtR1X
