In wake of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) announcing she has launched an exploratory committee for a presidential run in 2020, CNN showed just how crowded the Democratic primary field could get.
Including Warren, others in the graphic included:
- Former Vice President Joe Biden
- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
- Former Secretary of State John Kerry
- Rep. Robert O’Rourke (D-TX)
- Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT)
- Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA)
- Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)
- Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro
- Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)
- Democratic billionaire Tom Steyer
- Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ)
“We’re not, like, scraping the bucket to find names to put on that graphic. All of these people are considering a run,” CNN’s David Chalian said.
In her announcement video, Warren also took jabs at Fox News for being a “echo chamber of fear and hatred” by having various clips of their shows appear on screen.
“Today, corruption is poisoning our democracy,” she said. “Politicians look the other way while insurance companies deny patients life-saving coverage, while big banks rip off consumers. The whole scam is propped up by an echo chamber of fear and hatred. Designed to distract and divide us with people who will do or say anything to hang on to power, point the finger at anyone who looks, thinks, prays, loves differently than they do.”
