Earlier this week, Pew Research Center released an end-of-year report that stated that President Donald Trump received far more negative media coverage in his first 60 days than the previous three presidents. According to the study, 62% of news stories on Trump were negative.
Appearing on Fox News this weekend, conservative commentator Ben Stein said that due to the intensely negative media coverage the president has received, it was fair for Trump to use his Twitter feed to fire back.
Speaking to host Charles Payne, Stein noted that POTUS should probably be more considerate of things before he “shoots off his Twitter mouth” before tossing some praise the president’s way for the way he’s used his social media account to counteract news stories he doesn’t like.
“You know, I think it’s a totally fair thing for him to strike back and I think it’s a beautiful thing that he can strike back at the overwhelmingly negative press by getting out his own message,” Stein said. “And some of it is incredibly sensible.”
He added that people “have to love the guy” for saying such “common sense things” on Twitter, concluding that Trump “has a lot going for him” by having the social media platform.
