Parkland Survivor Comes Out Against Concealed Carry After Emotional WH Speech: ‘Teachers…Are There to Teach’

The nation’s eyes were trained on Samuel Zeif this afternoon as he made an emotional appeal for age restrictions on buying guns during President Donald Trump‘s televised listening session on how to prevent school shootings Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking to CNN’s John Berman about Trump’s idea that concealed carry should be the norm for teachers, Zeif had plenty of thoughts.

“Teachers…are there to teach,” he said. “They are not supposed to be there to protect us and have to worry about if they are going to have to shoot a kid that day.”

“I spoke with a teacher who was there in that room with me. And she’s been teaching for 19 years. And she said if one day she came to work and they said, all right, we’ll start arming you guys with firearms, she would quit,” he added.

At the listening session, Zeif explained tearfully that during the shooting, he was texting frantically with his younger brother, who was on the third floor, and that he lost his best friend.

“Teachers and 19-year-olds are still people,” he said. “And everyone is different… You just can’t. You just can’t arm every single teacher.”
