Omarosa Manigault appeared on The Late Show Wednesday night and offered some context to remarks she made on Celebrity Big Brother that caught a lot of attention.
In early February, former Apprentice star and White House staffer had a tearful heart-to-heart with housemate Ross Matthews about her time in the Trump administration and in the clip that went viral, she told him “it’s not going to be okay.”
After being asked by Stephen Colbert about what she meant, who he admittedly was “chilled” by what she said, Omarosa told him it was in reference to immigration.
“It was a part of a bigger discussion, we were talking about immigration and round ups,” Omarosa said. “Particularly, we were talking about a family, of a man who had been in the country for 30 years and had been sent back and Ross was expressing his concern about what was happening with immigration. So that was part of a bigger discussion and I believe that the immigration debate will continue. And it’s a very difficult and complicated subject and I don’t believe it can be resolved so simply and that was a part of the discussion and that’s why I was a bit emotional.”
Colbert then clarified if her remarks were aimed at DACA recipients or illegal immigrants, to which she responded by saying “we have the opportunity to make it okay.”
“I’ll ask you again… is everything going to be okay under Donald Trump?” Colbert asked.
“We’ll have to wait and see,” Omarosa replied.
