Greg Gutfeld Defends Kanye West: He’s Not ‘Trying to Bring Back Slavery’

Greg Gutfeld defended Kanye West Monday — as the hip hop star has come under criticism for a pro-Donald Trump stage rant after Saturday Night Live went off the air this week, and subsequent tweet for his support altering the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery.

Speaking on The Five, Gutfeld praised West for speaking in support of the president.

“When someone sacrifices their street cred and offers themselves up for ridicule from the cool kids so others might not be targeted, that’s brave,” Gutfeld said.

Later in the segment, Gutfeld was called out by Juan Williams — who blasted his colleague for supporting West in light of the widely panned 13th Amendment comment.

“I can’t believe you would celebrate Kanye West who says stuff like we should abolish the 13th amendment,” Williams said, scolding his fellow Five host. “Now how demented is that?!”

“It is an unusual idea,” Gutfeld said. “But you should read up on what he was talking about. I don’t agree with it.”

Williams, while noting that West slightly backpedaled, spelled out for the Fox News audience what exactly the 13th Amendment entails. To that, Gutfeld replied, “I don’t think he’s trying to bring back slavery, Juan.”

Five co-host Jesse Watters added, “Kanye’s been Hannit-ized! I can’t believe it!”
