With Roger Stone under intense scrutiny by the special counsel’s office, it’s perhaps no surprise that his communications with President Donald Trump are being examined.
According to the Washington Post, Trump had a lot of late-night calls with Stone in 2016, and they’re on Robert Mueller‘s radar:
In recent months, the Trump Organization turned over to Mueller’s team phone and contact logs that show multiple calls between the then-candidate and Stone in 2016, according to people familiar with the material.
The records are not a complete log of their contacts — Stone told The Washington Post on Wednesday that Trump at times called him from other people’s phones.
Stone insisted to the Post that they never discussed WikiLeaks and even asked, “Unless Mueller has tape recordings of the phone calls, what would that prove?”
One of Trump’s reported answers to questions submitted by Mueller dealt with whether Stone had discussed WikiLeaks with him, which the President denied.
