Speaking to Sean Hannity on Wednesday, Roger Stone claimed that Donald Trump was truthful in his reported answer to Robert Mueller and insisted he never spoke to the president about Wikileaks or Julian Assange.
Hannity started by asking if Stone thought he might be arrested. Stone said he had no idea, but if he did get arrested, it wouldn’t be because of “actual evidence” but instead because he is being persecuted for being a Trump loyalist.
“I haven’t done anything illegal,” Stone told Hannity, “I have been targeted for one reason and one reason only. I’m loyal to the president of the United States.”
Hannity then asked if he ever talked to Trump about Assange or Wikileaks.
Stone said he “absolutely” did not talk to the president about those matters.
“Yes. Absolutely. At no time did Donald Trump and I, candidate Trump or President Trump discuss Wikileaks,” Stone said, before once again going back to “witch hunt” talk.
“They are trying to destroy you financially to make you plead guilty to a minor crime you didn’t commit,” Stone opined. “Just like General Flynn.”
On Wednesday, it was revealed that in his written questions, Special Counsel Robert Mueller had asked Trump if he spoke to Stone about Assange or Wikileaks.
Trump reportedly denied those conversations happened in his written response.
However, during that period Trump and Stone were in regular contact with Trump making regular late-night calls to Stone, a matter that has also been of concern in the Mueller probe.
