Senator Bernie Sanders is doing a town hall on Fox News and has been defending the decision, given the DNC’s call not to let Fox News host any primary debates.
Sanders again addressed the matter in an interview with Huffington Post Washington bureau chief Amanda Terkel. Terkel asked if he worries about giving legitimacy to a network that “propagates Islamophobia [and] climate denial.”
“For better or for worse––and it is for worse––for whatever reason, you know, Fox has a huge viewing audience,” Sanders responded.And to simply say that we’re not going to talk to millions of people who watch that network––I don’t think is smart. When I go on Fox, what I will say is, ‘Look, many of you voted for Donald Trump, but he lied to you.”
At one point Terkel asked if he considers Fox News to be a propaganda arm of the Trump White House.
“In most respects, I think it is,” he responded.
Sanders added that there are some “serious” journalists on there, recalling the Fox News town hall he participated in during the last election with Bret Baier.
“But obviously,” Sanders added, “most of the station is right-wing propaganda.”
